Fran Bobadilla"s (b. Lugo, Spain 1975) approach to painting is an
attempt to reconstruct intangible thoughts and memories.

A versatile artist with a long career in and outside Spain - he currently
resides in Florence, Italy - Bobadilla"s oeuvre veers between works on
canvas where oil and vibrancy are king, and exquisite, delicate works
on paper like those presented in this show - where the playfulness
continues only this time the subtlety of the execution emphasises the,
sometimes wicked, stories contained within them.

The works in this show have the surreal quality that comes when our
brains rearrange fragments of memories throwing them back at us
totally skewed, and where the relationship between man, icon and his
surrounding objects, landscapes and animals take on a symbolic value.

The result is a heady mix of aesthetic positivism and conceptual
discomfort generated by tension and doubt.

Fran Bobadilla has created this series of works for their specific site and
they navigate the intricacies of the space with gusto and an assured
presence, while the subjects of the drawings witness the action around
them and are fed by it. Food is transformed into paint; dinner is served.
